How does mesh-hopping work?
What is the maximum range?
Every phone running Halito Chat acts as a node. If you are out of direct range of the commander, your messages securely hop through intermediate team devices until they reach the target.
Direct device-to-device range spans up to 100 meters in dense urban structures and up to 1 kilometer in open terrain. Mesh-hopping extends this range indefinitely across your team grid.
Is the connection secure?
Do we need extra hardware?
Yes. All local mesh communications, including text, coordinates, and push-to-talk chirps, are fully encrypted end-to-end. No data ever touches external servers or third-party networks.
No hardware is required to start. The app utilizes your phone's built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi antennas. For extreme ranges, we offer ruggedized standalone router nodes.
